Ensuring the safe use of energy storage, including cyber security, must be a priority for the industry, as it will determine the framework conditions for its long-term development. This session will discuss the cyber-security regulations for equipment used in the energy sector resulting from the NIS2 Directive, which Member States are obliged to implement by 18 October 2024. It will be indicated what requirements energy storage facilities will have to meet and what reporting obligations and possible administrative penalties will be imposed on covered entities. It will be analysed how the NIS2 Directive may affect the revision of the NIP.

Konrad Wojnarowski was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy on 12 January 2024. Graduate of international relations at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University, law at Lazarski University and postgraduate MBA - energy and climate policy management at Collegium Civitas in partnership with Paweł Adamowicz Civic Studies. He completed his doctoral studies. He defended his doctoral thesis in the scientific discipline: legal sciences, entitled. "NUTS classification and its significance for European Union law and Polish national law", at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Author of scientific publications on local government law and regional policy, participant of national and international scientific conferences. Studied in South Korea, where he completed a six-month Korean language and culture programme at the Korean Language Institute of Yeungnam University. Participant and graduate of political and social programmes organised by the European Committee of the Regions, the National Democratic Institute and the School of Political Leaders. Member of the team preparing the opinion of the European Committee of the Regions on the CoR's Recommendations for Local and Regional Authorities on the Successful Development of Regional Development Strategies beyond 2020. Ambassador of the European Climate Pact. Member of the Mazovian Council for Public Benefit Activity. Gained professional experience in administration.
Rafał Gawin
President of the ERO
Doctor of technical sciences with specialisation in electricity and energy management. At the Energy Regulatory Office since 2004. Appointed as President of the ERO by the Prime Minister on 24 July 2019. From March 2021 to September 2023, he served as Vice Chairman of the ACER Board of Regulators (ACER Board), which is a consultative and advisory body to the Director of the Agency. He was re-elected to this position in December 2023. He is experienced in the oversight of energy companies, including financial reporting, auditing and investment and development. He is the author of numerous publications and studies on the energy sector and co-authored a commentary on the Energy Law.

Since 20 years, he has been associated with e-mobility industry. He is a specialist in designing and implementing Li-ion battery and fuel cell systems and has managed numerous projects in that field, carried out by the company since the beginning of its beginning. These projects have resulted in the implementation and commercialization of our products all over the world, including for such clients as Citroen, SAM Group, Smith Electric Vehicles, Solaris Bus & Coach, Ursus, Kiepe Electric, Voith, Temsa and ADL. He led research and development projects in international consortiums such as TAILORWELD, TOLPE and KORANET. He is an author and coauthor of a numbers patents, trademarks and unique technical solutions in area of electromobility, Li-ion batteries, fuel cells and system control. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology, where he also gained his Ph.D. title, and completed the ICAN Institute management study (Harvard Management Course).

Director of the Energy Storage Division of the Polish Photovoltaics Association, the initiator and as of 2016, the President of the Energy Storage Congress in Poland. President of the Programme Board of the four editions of the Energy Storage Congress in Poland. The initiator and President of the Polish Delegation to Energy Storage Europe. Founder and CEO of the company ADM Poland as of 2013 providing consulting services to the Polish renewables market. Advisor for business modelling for companies involved in power engineering, development and implementation of services concerning energy balancing and management and construction of independent heat and power systems. Author of operation and development strategies for four certified energy clusters. Graduate of the University of Warsaw and Kozminski University (MBA). Winner of the RE-energy International Renewable Energy Fair “Industry Personality” statuette. One of the Top 40 Women Leaders in Energy Storage worldwide, according to the Energy Storage Report.

Robert Chryc-Gawrychowski

Robert Chryc-Gawrychowski has been president of Northvolt Systems Poland Sp. z o.o. since 2018 and is responsible for the development of the Polish production facility in Gdansk. Northvolt is a European supplier of high-quality battery cells and systems, manufactured in an environmentally sustainable way. The company's mission is to build the world's greenest batteries with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest recycling capabilities to ensure Europe's transformation towards a decarbonised future. Robert Chryc-Gawrychowski has over 20 years of experience in building long-term development strategies and operational management of companies operating in the battery and energy storage market for industrial applications. He lives and works in Gdańsk. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation at the Gdansk University of Technology. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, motorbike and bicycle trips as well as good reading and jazz.
Anna Chmielewska
Associate Director / Senior Banker European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
Anna has over 15 years of experience in finance and banking, including extensive knowledge in structured finance. Currently, Anna is responsible for EBRD's activities in Central Europe in the Power, Energy & Utilities segment. Her responsibilities include structuring and implementing EBRD financing, including project financing structures, public-private partnerships and privatizations, with a strong focus on renewables and energy efficiency. Anna joined the EBRD in 2006 and has since led numerous financing transactions in various sectors (including natural resources, transport, real estate), gradually specializing in energy and infrastructure. These transactions included a wide range of complex debt, equity and syndicated transactions. Before joining EBRD, Anna worked at Barclays Capital in London. Previously, she gained experience at AIB in Dublin, HVB in Munich and Narodowy Bank Polski. Anna holds a doctorate in economics from the Warsaw School of Economics, a master's degree in finance from the Warsaw School of Economics, and a master's degree in international management from CEMS.
Piotr Charewicz
Senior Infrastructure Specialist
Piotr Charewicz works at the World Bank as a Senior Infrastructure Specialist. He started his professional career in business consulting working for EY among others. Over the past years, he has been involved in numerous infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly concerning the energy and transport sectors. Among others, Piotr worked for the Transmission System Operator, where he led the implementation of transmission investments. He was responsible for the project for the construction of the HVDC interconnection between Poland and Lithuania, the North-South line, as well as acting as the coordinator of Phase II of the synchronisation process of the Baltic States with the system of continental Europe. Piotr has also worked with the European Commission as an expert responsible for assessing and supporting energy transition and decarbonisation projects. Piotr is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics, where he majored in economics and economic analysis of law.
Agnieszka Skorupińska

and ESG Law Practice of the Rymarz Zdort Maruta law firm
He is an attorney with over fifteen years of professional experience. He specializes in Polish and EU environmental protection and natural resources law, as well as ESG regulations. He advises companies on regulatory aspects, court proceedings, investment projects and environmental aspects of real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and financing processes. For the last six years, Ms. Agnieszka has been cooperating with an international law firm, where she headed the Environmental Protection Law Practice in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, and coordinated ESG activities at the level of Central and Eastern Europe. As an advisor, she successfully advised, among others: companies from the energy, chemical, construction, waste management, FMCG, water and sewage, renewable energy, mining, automotive, clothing, real estate and food sectors. He has been successfully representing clients in administrative and court proceedings regarding environmental protection law for years. Ms. Agnieszka is also the chairwoman of the Working Group for the Application of Taxonomy at the Ministry of Development and Technology and vice-chairwoman of the ESG Committee at the Polish Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the group supporting work on the project of European Sustainable Reporting Standards (ESRS) for listed small and medium-sized enterprises at EFRAG.

Manager with many years of experience in project management and business development in the energy sector, among others. He was educated in economics and finance at the University of Gdansk and Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen. From 2011 to 2016 he worked for the ENERGA Group, where, among other things, he served as President of the Board of Directors of Enspirion sp. z o.o., an entity responsible for the development of innovative solutions in the energy sector. He participated in the commercialization process of the DSR service in Poland. He has been associated with Prime PV since 2022. He is responsible for M&A and business development in the Group.

Piotr Szczeciński, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology, co-author of numerous publications in the field of professional electrical power engineering. Piotr Szczeciński is the author of many studies and publications in the field of electrical power engineering, energy storage and power system security. He is the author of many technical papers, an expert on grid codes, their implementation in the domestic market and testing of facilities in accordance with NC RfG.

Grzegorz Onichimowski graduated from the Faculty of Technical Physics and Applied Mathematics (FTiMS) at Warsaw University of Technology and postgraduate studies of company management at Warsaw School of Economics. Entrepreneur and manager with over 30 years of experience in the energy and IT sectors. Co-founder and long-time (2002-2012) CEO of the Polish Power Exchange. Consultant in many energy sector companies in Poland, Europe and the USA. In 2015-2019, he created the energy market of the Persian Gulf countries as Director of a project financed by 6 GCC countries in the regional transmission system operator - GCCIA. He worked, among others, for the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Columbus, NODES - the European flexibility platform. Expert of the Civic Institute and co-creator of the energy program of the election committee Koalicja Obywatelska. Lecturer at Collegium Civitas and other universities.
Arkadiusz Tarnowski

Manager with over 10 years of experience in attracting foreign investments to Poland and internationalizing enterprises, with particular emphasis on Asian business culture. In recent years, he has been intensively involved in projects in the electromobility sector, including initiatives related to lithium-ion batteries, their components, and recycling and recovery of strategically important metals. He graduated in business management and finance from the Bucharest University of Economics and in international political economy from the University of Tsukuba in Japan, where he completed his master's and doctoral studies. He worked as a Private Sector Liaison Officer for the World Bank Group, supporting Polish entrepreneurs in international public procurement procedures. He also served as the Manager of the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Seoul (2018-2020) and manager in Taipei (2021).
